Duke Pathology had a strong presence at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) 114th Annual Meeting, “See the Light,” from March 22-27 in Boston, Mass. Faculty members and residents gave talks, presented posters, and received awards, showcasing the latest research and clinical advancements in pathology. Plus, the department hosted a reception on Sunday evening at Omni Boston at the Seaport.

Thomas J. Cummings, MD, was the invited speaker at the Duke Department of Neurosurgery Grand Rounds on Feb. 26, 2025.  His talk was titled “November 22, 1963: An introduction to the History and Forensic Pathology of the Assassination of President John F.

From Feb. 24-28, we celebrate Graduate Medical Education (GME) Week 2025. We hope everyone uses the time to reflect on the various contributions that our residents, fellows, program directors, and program coordinators make in support of Duke’s legacy of excellence.

Thomas J. Cummings, MD, professor of Pathology and Ophthalmology and Residency Program director, is pleased to announce the approval of a Pathology Sub-Internship by the Duke School of Medicine (SOM) Curriculum Committee, to begin for the Spring Term of 2025.

Duke Pathology residents and faculty members attended the College of American Pathologists 2024 Annual Meeting (CAP24) at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel in Nevada from Oct. 19-22, 2024, to promote residency and fellowship programs.

Alex Jett, MD, PGY2, has been named as Duke's second trainee representative for the North Carolina Society of Pathologists (NCSP) Trainee Advisory Council, joining Cytopathology fellow Meg Lee, MD, who is the council’s chair.

Abigail “Abbey” Hitt, MD, MEng, PGY2, (née Roth) presented a poster at the biennial Pulmonary Pathology Society (PPS) meeting in New York City from June 20-22, 2024.
