Benjamin Andress, PhD, received the Orthopedic Research Society (ORS) Meniscus Section Poster Award from the ORS annual meeting in February 2022 for his poster, "A Tale of Two Loads: Regional Variation and Inflammation in Meniscus Mechanoresponsive Pathways Using Two Models of Mechanical Loading."

Christopher J. Pirozzi, PhD, recently received a grant for $148,000 from StacheStrong, an organization that supports brain cancer research.

Two Department of Pathology PhD candidates have been awarded the prestigious the Paul and Lauren Ghaffari Fellowship. The $5,000 stipend to support research is given annually to just four to outstanding graduate students across Duke pursuing studies related to oncology.  

Prior to his pathology residency, Pina-Oviedo conducted four years of research in neurovirology, viral oncology and molecular biology at the Center for Neurovirology at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

Congratulations to Michelle Johnson, MHS, PA (ASCP) CM, who officially was approved by NAACLS as Duke’s new Pathologists’ Assistant Program Director. 

Ming Chen, PhD, has been awarded two new National Institutes of Health (NIH) RO1 grants, which will begin in March and April 2022, respectively.
