Victor L. Roggli, MD, gave a presentation at the Pulmonary Pathology Society Biennial meeting in Cork, Ireland on June 25, 2022, titled “Mesothelioma and Occupational Lung Disease—Pitfalls for Expert Witnesses.”
In 2020, the Society recognized Roggli with the prestigious Pulmonary Pathology Society Lifetime Achievement Award, which is given to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and effort over time to provide exceptional service to PPS and its membership. Roggli was honored for contributing to the pulmonary pathology community through his leadership, vision, and mentoring.
Over his career, Roggli has attained extraordinary distinction and accomplishment in the field of thoracic pathology, and has published extensively and lectured on all aspects of lung diseases. He is known worldwide, especially for his work in the pathology of occupational lung diseases that paved the way to better understanding of disease processes related to occupational and environmental exposures.
As one of the founding members of the PPS, Dr. Roggli has provided throughout his career exceptional leadership and service to the PPS. He served as the Program Committee Chair in the first administration from 1995-1998 and helped to establish the first PPS Companion Meeting at USCAP. Subsequently, he served as the president of the PPS from 2000-2002.
Dr. Roggli's commitment to excellence has been evident as an outstanding educator in pathology. He is one of those special mentors with fantastic personality, who has trained many outstanding thoracic pathologists who have always appreciated his willingness to teach and guide them through their own careers.
