A committee of biomedical graduate students has selected Professor of Pathology Laura Hale, MD PhD, as a distinguished nominee for the 2021 Gordon G. Hammes Faculty Teaching Award.  

Ms. Judy Zhu, a Canadian Citizen and an entrepreneur, has established the Judy Zhu Urologic Cancer Research Fund in the Department of Pathology and DCI Center for Prostate & Urologic Cancers to support the research conducted in Dr. Jiaoti Huang’s laboratory.

Thomas J. Cummings, MD, Professor of Pathology and Ophthalmology, Division Chief of Neuropathology, and Residency Program Director, has been elected by the American Association of Ophthalmic Oncologists and Pathologists (AAOOP) to serve as Committee Representative to the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP)

Gary Procop MD MS, a former trainee in the Duke Department of Pathology (Resident in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, 1992-6; Chief Resident, 1995-6) has recently won two major accolades. 

Jessica Waibl Polania, third year doctoral student in the Pathology PhD Program, was awarded the Paul and Lauren Ghaffari Graduate Fellowship from the Duke Graduate School.

Giselle López, MD PhD is one of three recipients of the Duke Clinical and Translational Science Institute KL2 Award, which will allow her to pursue studies on hypercellular nodules in the oligodendroglioma tumor microenvironment, and their impact on prognosis.
