Chelsea Landon, DVM PhD has been selected as the recipient of the Duke Commitment to Care recognition this cycle. The Commitment to Care is an animal welfare recognition program to highlight an outstanding member of the Duke Animal Program for their commitment to animal welfare.
Dr. Landon was nominated by two of her colleagues and was unanimously selected by the Animal Program selection committee and the Duke Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee to receive this recognition. Nominees are evaluated based on multiple criteria including demonstration of attentiveness and sensitivity to animal welfare, commitment to continuous learning, compassion for humane animal care and use, and prioritization of the 3-Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement).
Dr. Landon will be formally recognized on July 15th, 2021 at the IACUC Programmatic meeting and highlighted in Duke's internal publication, Animal Tracks. Her commitment to the animals under Duke’s care is commended.
