Dr. Pirozzi Awarded Grant for Brain Cancer Research

Christopher J. Pirozzi, PhD, recently received a grant for $148,000 from StacheStrong, an organization that supports brain cancer research. This grant will allow Pirozzi to investigate how the cellular identity of glioma cells changes in response to and through the duration of therapy. Additionally, he plans to perform a screen identifying sensitivities specific for particular cellular states. Combined, this research aims to assess how mutant IDH1 tumors progress over time on a single cell level, and whether there are cellular populations that may be more sensitive to therapeutic targeting. To learn more about the story behind StacheStrong, their fundraising initiatives, and the research they support, click here.
