
Professor of Pathology and Residency Program Director Thomas J. Cummings, MD, served as chair of the Residency Program Directors Section (PRODS) of the Association of Academic Pathology (AAPath) for the 2024-2025 academic year. He also served as chair of the PRODS at the AAPath Meeting in Denver, Colorado, from July 27-30, 2025 where he was moderator for the C. Bruce Alexander lecture, hosted the PRODS business meeting and town hall, and hosted meet-and-greet sessions for medical students and residents (Kinney Scholars) and new program directors.
Cummings will continue to serve the AAPath PRODS Council as immediate past chair and chair of the PRODS Nominating Committee for the 2025-2026 academic year and for the 2026 annual meeting to be held in Boston, Massachusetts.
“It is a great honor for me to serve and to contribute to the graduate medical education mission of AAPath PRODS,” Cummings said.
AAPath-PRODS provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas, makes recommendations concerning rules governing content and management of resident training to the Residency Review Committee and American Board of Pathology, and participates in programs that facilitate the continued development and enhancement of pathology training programs.
