On Aug. 20th, Avani Pendse, MBBS, PhD, gave an invited zoom talk at the “5th Annual Conference of the Association of Cytologists of Maharashtra,” organized by the Indian Association of Practicing Pathologists of the City of Pune chapter. The talk, titled “Cytology of Liver Disease,” was featured as “Dr. Gharpuray Oration”.
Pendse was invited by the Chairwoman of the Pathology Department of GMC, Nagpur, where she attended medical school in India. The Chairwoman, Dr. Meherbano Kamal, MD, is one of the office bearers of the Association of Cytologists of Maharashtra.
The two-day conference was attended by more than 180 participants, and other faculty included pathologists from pre-eminent academic institutions in India: King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth G. S. Medical College in Mumbai and Pune; Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Charitable Hospital in Mumbai; Tata Medical Center in Kolkata; as well as the National University of Singapore.
Pendse is an Associate Professor of Pathology. She joined our department in 2017 and also serves as Program Director for the general Surgical Pathology Fellowship, and as Associate Director of Proteomics for the Duke BioRepository & Precision Pathology Center (BRPC). Read more.
