Anne Buckley, MD, PhD, has been promoted to associate professor of Pathology effective Sept. 1, 2023. She has served Duke Pathology with great distinction as a neuropathologist (with special expertise in muscle pathology); laboratory director; educator; collaborative investigator; and advisor/editor for departmental communications.
“When we desperately needed help in renal pathology several years ago, Dr. Buckley added it to her portfolio, practicing this challenging discipline with great skill and dedication,” said Senior Vice Chair in Pathology David Howell, MD, PhD. “She was the founding leader of our departmental Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, and was an early adopter and passionate supporter of patient-centered pathology. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Buckley on her promotion.”
Buckley’s research focus is on neurogenic stem cells and their involvement in brain development and brain tumors. She works in mouse models using inducible in vivo genetic systems, live imaging, and tissue culture, in addition to histological and biochemical methods.
Her clinical research interests include neuromuscular diseases. Buckley collaborates with colleagues at Duke on basic and translational research in this area, and is a member of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center. She is also involved in translational and basic research on brain, muscle, and kidney disorders with other research groups at Duke.
