On Aug. 2nd, Duke Pathology welcomed eight new Pathologists’ Assistants with a White Coat Ceremony held in the Duke South Amphitheater. Pathologists’ Assistants Program Director Michelle Johnson, MHS, PA (ASCP)CM, Pathology Professor Rex Bentley, MD,  and Emily Wagner, M.H.S., PA(ASCP)CM, spoke at the event.

Congratulations to our incoming class:

The Pathologists’ Assistant profession was created at Duke, with the first class of students admitted to the two-year program in 1969. These health professionals provide various services under the direction and supervision of pathologists, interacting in a similar manner to physician’s assistants in surgical and medical practices.
