We are happy to announce that Ling Cai, PhD, has joined Duke Pathology as an assistant professor. She received her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and conducted postdoctoral training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-Chapel Hill). Before her appointment at Duke, she was an assistant professor in the Department of Genetics at UNC-Chapel Hill.
The objective of her research group is to decipher genetic and epigenetic mechanisms underlying the progression of advanced prostate cancer and to develop novel treatment strategies. Cai and her team are interested specifically in studying the roles of various transcription factors and chromatin regulators during prostate cancer tumorigenesis, metastasis and drug resistance using integrated biochemical, genomic and cancer biology approaches.
