Duke Pathology Trainees and Faculty Present at CAP24

Duke Pathology residents and faculty members attended the College of American Pathologists 2024 Annual Meeting (CAP24) at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel in Nevada from Oct. 19-22, 2024, to promote residency and fellowship programs.

Natalya Ramirez, MD, PGY-3, and Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program Coordinator Jawanna Bell, C-TAGME, represented Duke Pathology and provided information about the Residency Program and Fellowship Program. Ramirez, who is also a CAP member, attended resident forums as well.

Residents Tanner Bakhshi, MD, PhD, PGY-2, and Grace Kwon, MD, PhD, PGY-3, made presentations. Kwon presented her poster titled “A Novel EWSR1:KLF5 Fusion in a Malignant Epithelioid Neoplasm of the Finger with Review of the Literature,” which was a case study. Bakhshi exhibited his poster titled “Difference in Cold Antibody Testing to Inform Pediatric Cardiac Surgery: A Case Study.” Resident and junior CAP member Ife Fuwape, MD, PGY-4, attended resident forums and daily seminars.

Diana Cardona, MD, MBA, presented a poster titled “Communication of Pathology Results as a Form of Diagnostic Error: The College of American Pathologitsts Leads in Adapting to the 21st Century Cures Act. She also moderated the Advocacy Town Hall at the meeting. Jessica Poisson, MD, attended as a member of the CAP Curriculum Committee, which coordinates the education program for the meeting.
