Dr. Elena M. Fenu Joins Faculty

On July 1, 2024, we welcomed Elena M. Fenu, MD, as an assistant professor in Duke’s Hematopathology and Molecular Pathology divisions.  Her academic interests include the study of myeloid neoplasms and their molecular drivers, with a particular focus on TP53-mutated myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia.  

Fenu attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both college and medical school. She completed her Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology residency at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina. She followed that with a hematopathology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, then completed a molecular genetic pathology fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
