Thomas J. Cummings, MD, professor of Pathology and Ophthalmology, and director of Duke Pathology’s Residency Program, was invited to speak at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as part of the Laboratory of Pathology, Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute (LP/CCR/NCI) Annual Faculty Development Seminar Series.
In his lecture, titled “An Introduction to Graduate Medical Education and a Year in the Life of a Residency Program Director,” Cummings offered attendees an in-depth look at the structure and day-to-day leadership of residency training programs. Drawing on his extensive experience, he offered valuable insights into how graduate medical education shapes the next generation of physicians and pathologists.
In addition, Cummings also participated in a meet-and-greet session with residents, providing an opportunity for open dialogue and mentorship.
