Assistant Professor of Pathology Jennifer Crimmins, MD, attended the 2025 International Society of Dermatopathology (ISDP) Annual Meeting, which was held in Orlando, Florida, March 5-6, 2025. She presented intriguing and challenging cases from her practice and shared her experiences with speakers and audiences from around the world.
Professor of Pathology Maria Angelica Selim, MD, served as a moderator for the Self-Assessment Course. Additionally, Selim was actively involved in organizing the ISDP Travel Grant Award, which helps cover the cost of attending an ISDP meeting, with priority given to dermatology or pathology trainees and practitioners from low- or lower-middle-income countries, as classified by the World Bank. This year’s recipients were from Nigeria, Egypt, Tanzania, and Ethiopia.
ISDP aims to foster international collaboration and scientific exchange among its members, sponsor global and regional meetings, and support educational initiatives.
Selim is a professor of Pathology and director of the Dermatopathology Division. She joined the Duke faculty in 1999 after completing a pathology residency program at New England Deaconess Hospital and a fellowship in Dermatopathology at Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on providing pathology expertise to several multidisciplinary and multi-institutional collaborations aimed at improving our understanding of vulvar inflammatory disorders and vulvar dysplasia, as well as cutaneous lymphomas.
In March 2023, Crimmins rejoined the Department of Pathology as an assistant professor in our Dermatopathology Division. She was a Dermatopathology fellow from 2020-21. After completing her fellowship at Duke, she joined the faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University. Crimmins is passionate about undergraduate and graduate medical education and is working to make improvements in Dermatopathology education for Duke Pathology and its Dermatology residents.
