On July 1, 2025, Duke alumna Gina Sotolongo, MD, joined Duke faculty as an assistant professor of Pathology. She primarily will be involved in Gastrointestinal Pathology sign-out and will also contribute to Hematopathology services.
A graduate of the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Florida, Sotolongo completed her Duke Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) residency in 2023, serving as co-chief resident from 2022-2023.
She remained at Duke for Hematopathology and Surgical Pathology (GI and Soft Tissue and Bone) fellowships, which she completed in June 2025. She is board certified in AP/CP and hematopathology.
"I'm excited to officially become part of the Duke family and continue working with such an amazing group of pathologists,” said Sotolongo.
In her free time, she enjoys exploring North Carolina with her husband, Eric, and two young children, Javier and Lucas.
