Pathology resident Bangchen Wang, MD PhD, PGY-3, has won the First Prize for Excellence in Uropathology Research from the Genitourinary Pathology Society (GUPS). He submitted an abstract to the USCAP Annual Meeting 2023, which will take place in New Orleans, LA, in March. At the conference, Wang will present his research project on "Metabolomic Features of Human Prostate Cancers that are Visible or Invisible by Multiparametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging," which was supervised by Chairman Jiaoti Huang, MD, PhD.
The aim of the research is to identify the molecular mechanisms underlying why some prostate cancers are visible on multi-parametric MRI while others are not. This understanding will enable the development of new imaging strategies to improve the sensitivity and specificity of radiologic diagnosis. Wang collaborated with members of the surgery and radiology departments on this project.
