Key Role Identified for Nervous System in Severe Allergic Shock
Soman Abraham, PhD, is the senior author of a paper appearing online today, March 17th, in the journal Science Immunology, which identifies the key role the nervous system plays in severe allergic shock. The study could point to new targets for therapies to prevent or treat anaphylactic shock, which occurs in up to 5% of people in the U.S. annually in response to food allergies or bites from insects or venomous animals.
