Jorge Santana-Santini Awarded for Research on Therapeutic Treatments for Brain Tumors

Jorge Santana-Santini, a research technician in Giselle López’s, MD PhD, lab, was recently awarded the Geographic Management of Cancer Health Disparities Program (GMaP) Region 1 South Professional Development and Research Stimulus Award! GMaP Region 1 South is a program of the National Cancer Institute.

In addition, Santana-Santini produced a poster selected for The American Association of Neuropathologists (AANP) R13 Grant $500 Award. These awards enable him to participate in the hybrid AANP 98th Annual Meeting June 9-12, 2022, with a presentation titled “Anti-GRP78 for the treatment of metastatic brain tumors.” The award will be announced during the Trainee Luncheon and virtually acknowledged on the Annual Meeting website platform.

Santana-Santini is planning to apply in fall 2022 to MD-PhD programs. His current research focus is on therapeutic treatments for tumors metastatic to the brain.
