Glass Invited to Speak at University of Rome

On July 21st, 2023, Carolyn Glass, MD, PhD, division chief of Duke Cardiovascular Pathology and co-director of the Duke Division of Artificial Intelligence and Computational Pathology, was invited to speak and visit with bioengineering and statistics PhD students, post-doctorate students, and pathology trainees at Sapienza University of Rome. She gave a talk discussing cutting-edge technologies such as spatial transcriptomics, machine learning, generative artificial intelligence in healthcare, and the importance of multi-departmental collaboration and crosstalk.

While visiting Rome, Glass also cheered on her son, Joshua, who competed at the 2023 International History Olympiad held in Rome from July 23-31. Joshua represented North Carolina, USA, qualifying as one of the top three students in the state at the U.S. National History Bee Championships in the elementary school division.
