Director Thomas J. Cummings, MD
Professor of Pathology and Residency Program Director Thomas J. Cummings, MD, lectured on the pathology of drug-related corneal deposits at the Verhoeff-Zimmerman Ophthalmic Pathology Society (VZS) meeting held April 24th-26th, 2025, at the Oregon Health & Science University Casey Eye Institute in Portland.
He discussed how deposits may affect visual acuity when they accumulate in the corneal epithelium, stroma, and endothelium.
The VZS was founded in 1946, and is one of the oldest subspecialty groups in Ophthalmology. It continues to advance the discipline of ophthalmic pathology. Cummings has been an active participating member since 2001, and hosted the meeting at Duke in 2019.
