Duke Faculty Present at International Brain Tumor Conference

On March 27th, 2023, four Duke Pathology faculty members presented at the International Conference on Brain Tumor Research and Therapy (ICBTRT) in Kiawah, SC, a prestigious biannual meeting dedicated to cutting-edge science in neuro-oncology that gathers together  brain tumor clinicians and researchers from around the world.

Division of Experimental Pathology Chief and E. L. and Lucille F. Jones Cancer Distinguished Research Professor Darell Bigner, M.D.,Ph.D.,M.D.(h.c.), was invited to give the keynote address at the gala held on the final day of the event. In the talk, titled “Advances in Brain Tumor Research from 1964 to present,”  he reviewed the many accomplishments that have been made in surgery, radiology, and pathology of brain tumors over the years and covered several of the major contributions made by the members of Duke’s Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center and its collaborators.

Yiping He, PhD, presented “Differentiation Induction for Targeting Glioblastoma Stemness.”

Giselle López, MD, PhD, gave a talk titled "Spatial Protein and Transcriptomics of Hypercellular Nodules in Oligodendroglioma." She also served as a co-moderator for the Pathology session.

Roger McLendon, MD, presented “Recombinant Oncolytic Poliovirus (PVSRIPO) Therapy of Glioblastoma: A CNS Autopsy Study.”
