Dr. Deyrup Named as Founding Member of APC Academy of Distinguished Pathology Educators

By Jamie Botta

Andrea T. Deyrup, MD, PhD, has been named as a founding member of the Association of Pathology Chairs' (APC) Academy of Distinguished Pathology Educators, an exceptional group of accomplished educators that include Vinay Kumar, MD, the senior editor of the “Robbins Pathology” textbooks, and Michael Borowitz, MD, PhD, a graduate of our residency program and currently a Professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. On July 18th, Deyrup and her fellow founding members will be recognized at the Awards luncheon during the APC’s annual meeting in Chicago, IL.

As a group member, Deyrup is committed to support and advance excellence in pathology pedagogy; advance scholarship and innovation in pathology education and training; and serve as a mentor and thought leader to grow educational leaders from pathology who will serve both within their home institutions as well as in national organizations

The Academy will use its first meeting to discuss creating bylaws for governance and plan initial activities and priorities.

APC is a nonprofit society which serves as the voice of academic departments of Pathology in the United States and Canada. It provides leadership and advocacy for the discipline of Pathology, and enables academic departments to meet the demands of their three missions: medical education, research, and practice.
