Career Goals: I began my career in an anatomic pathology lab that involved everything from specimen processing and grossing to histology and cytology, so I have grown to love all aspects of the pathology laboratory. With the skills I’ve obtained, along with those I will learn in the Path A Program, I hope to work in and eventually manage a lab where I can be involved in multiple aspects of pathology.

Hobbies and Interests: I love animals (especially cats), and I like to do anything outdoors when the weather is nice. I also enjoy playing video games, listening to true crime podcasts, and trying new foods.

Why Duke: I chose Duke because, as a former employee of Duke Surgical Pathology, I got to see firsthand how great the PAs and pathologists were to work with. They are excellent teachers! I also really like the small class sizes—it ensures you get the proper attention and resources to obtain a great education. Duke also has an extremely wide variety of specimens that come through, which is invaluable in terms of exposure and experience.

Why Durham: I have lived in Durham now for a few years, and it is a great place to live. The weather is beautiful here; the winters and summers are much milder than where I lived in the Midwest. There are also tons of cool restaurants and coffee shops, and plenty of outdoor activities. Both the beach and the mountains are just a short drive away.
