Hometown: Lafayette, Louisiana

College: Louisiana Tech University

Research: Technician Work: Studying the repair mechanisms employed by various tissues in response to radiation therapy-induced damage.

Master’s Work: Investigating the effects of the Notch signaling pathway on osteogenic differentiation in human adipose derived stem cells.

Career Goals: I currently plan on pursuing a career in academia as a researcher, but I am also open to pursuing a job in the scientific industry. Regardless of which path I take; I would like to someday work as a lecturer and student mentor at the university level.

Hobbies:  In my free time I enjoy going to concerts, practicing Judo/BJJ, playing guitar/bass, as well as playing table-top games with my friends.

Why Duke: One of my main draws to Duke was the excellent sense of community and collaboration among the faculty. The faculty at Duke are working on a myriad of research interests and all of them are doing so at a world-class level. When compounded with the world-class facilities and ties to a major hospital, Duke has established itself as an excellent environment for training emerging scientists.

Why Durham: Durham surprised me with its excellent food and arts scene that is constantly evolving. The city has an amazing culture with plenty of activities for just about anyone. Local sports teams, great bars and breweries, museums, and plenty of hiking/camping spots make it hard to be bored here. If there is anything that you can’t find in town, the surrounding area is bound to have it. I found it very easy to make Durham my home and I can see myself here long-term.
