Hometown: Vung Tau, Viet Nam (originally). Durham, NC (currently)
College: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Career Goals: My aspiration has always been to contribute to healthcare by striving passionately and knowledgeably to improve the well-being of the patients in a meaningful way through behind-the-scenes work. After graduation, I'm attracted to opportunities that allow me to immerse myself in the worlds of surgical pathology and autopsy. Learning about forensic pathology responsibilities is also at the back of my mind.
Hobbies and Interests: Outside of work and school, I usually find myself at the gym, experimenting with new recipes, fishing, or tending to my bug-eating babies. I also burn a fair amount of my time climbing the ranks in Area of Valor (AOV) with my little brothers.
Why Duke? Why not Duke?! I genuinely can't imagine myself anywhere else. The Path A program at Duke offers everything I am looking for: academic rigor, colleague connections that last beyond the classroom, and the faculty's commitment to students’ success. I know the journey of becoming a Path A is an arduous one, so having dedicated faculty members to guide me along the way truly takes off the mental load. I'm confident that the program will shape me into not only a Path A, but an excellent one.
Why Durham? Durham charms me with its unique blend of city life and natural areas. The city is large enough to explore lots of dining and entertainment. Some of my favorite places are Cook Out, Drive Shack, Mr. Tokyo, Durham Library, SoHot Hotpot, Milk Lab… But small enough to recharge and feel at home. Another perk of living in North Carolina is that it's only 2-3 hours driving to the mountains and beaches.
