Hometown: Clarksburg, WV
College: Marshall University
Fellowship Plans: My current interests include GI pathology, molecular pathology, and hematopathology.
Career Goals: I am interested in pursuing both academic pathology and private practice.
Hobbies and Interests: I am a lifelong gamer – my favorite series are the Soulsborne games, Doom, The Elder Scrolls, and Metal Gear. I also collect music – my preferred genres are metal, hip-hop, punk rock, and new wave – and I try to listen to at least one new album every day. I also enjoy reading about history and herpetology.
Why Duke: I believe Duke offers a well-balanced pathology curriculum that encourages proficiency in all aspects of both anatomic and clinical pathology while also providing for ample opportunities for professional development tailored to my career aspirations. Moreover, all of the fellowships I am currently interested in are present in-house within Duke.
Why Durham: Durham was a natural choice for me due to it being a progressive, burgeoning city located in the Research Triangle. Its relatively close proximity to both the ocean and mountains ensured that it would also offer plenty of recreational activities. As someone from the largely rural state of West Virginia but still interested in venturing out into bigger cities, Durham’s medium size was also a great way to acclimate to city life.
