Career goals: I’ve always had an interest in autopsy pathology, which inspired my initial career as a registered nurse before I discovered the role of pathologists’ assistant. But I was also enthralled and invigorated with surgical pathology during my shadowing experiences, so I could really see myself in a variety of environments and roles.  

Hobbies and interests: Spending time with my pup Carl, family and friends, as well as reading, watching documentaries, yoga, and dancing.

Why Duke: I fell in love with the supportive, organized, inclusive, passionate and welcoming environment at Duke while touring the program and couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else. In addition, the rigorous first year curriculum excited and impressed me, and I appreciate the small cohort size that enables a tailored experience for each individual. It was also a huge plus that the campus made me feel like I was at Hogwarts.

Why Durham: I have spent the majority of my life in California, so I loved the idea of living on the east coast and experiencing a completely new environment. The abundance of nature, art, and community in Durham is unmistakable, and being part of the academic Research Triangle region is both inspiring and motivating.
