Hometown: Spokane, WA

College: University of Washington

Career Goals: I hope to work in a surgical pathology lab, possibly a university hospital where they get plenty of interesting and complex cases! I am excited to explore other roles like research and teaching during my time in the program to see if any of those are a good fit for me!

Hobbies and Interests:  I enjoy crocheting, sewing, and cooking! Other hobbies I have are reading and watching movies. I also love traveling, especially road tripping!

Why Duke: Duke provides the opportunity to learn alongside their medical students during the first year, which I think will provide me with a stronger theoretical understanding of medicine. It will also better prepare me for future collaboration with physicians. Also, during clinical rotations, every student rotates back through Duke University Hospital multiple times in between other sites, so their progress is monitored by people who know and care about them. I think this is a really effective way to make sure students are ready to practice on their own after graduation.

Why Durham: Durham seems like it has a great balance of city life and natural areas. It is also far away from where I have grown up, so I am very excited to explore a new part of the country!
