Hometown: Dunwoody, GA
College: University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!)
Career Goals: A position that blends both surgical pathology and autopsy, especially in an academic setting, sounds like a dream.
Hobbies and Interests: Long-form and junk journaling, cooking, baking, thrifting, and having movie/game nights with friends. Mario Kart Shine Thief and the card game ERS are my specialties!
Why Duke: I was initially drawn to the program’s small class size, established local rotations, and comprehensive curriculum in tandem with the medical school. Additionally, Duke’s world-class hospital system ensures training in a wide range of complex cases. What ultimately stood out, though, was the encouraging program ethos conveyed to me while touring the campus, shadowing an alumnus, and speaking with my interviewers. I knew that if I were accepted, I would instantly be welcomed into the tight-knit Duke Pathology family. The beautiful architecture and electric sports culture were just the cherry on top! Coming from a Southeastern Conference football powerhouse, I’m excited to experience student life at a basketball school.
Why Durham: When I visited to tour the campus, Durham struck me as a relaxed but dynamic city. I’m looking forward to exploring its food scene and taking advantage of the trails and green spaces when I need to recharge. I also have family in the area, so having them as a support system will be invaluable.
