Hometown: Snow Camp, NC
College: University of North Carolina at Wilmington
Fellowship Plans: I'm exploring several subspecialties, particularly cytopathology, hematopathology, and dermatopathology. My goal is to remain in North Carolina for fellowship training.
Career Goals: I'm passionate about research in the areas mentioned above! I'd like to continue this throughout my career as I find research incredibly rewarding and a great way to connect with pathologists all over the world. Long-term, I hope to practice in North Carolina and contribute to healthcare in this beautiful state that I call home!
Hobbies and Interests: I'm a live wedding painter in my spare time, typically painting one to two weddings every three months depending on my schedule. It's a wonderful creative outlet that allows me to capture people on their happiest day!
Why Duke: I have a personal connection to Duke, having worked as a nursing assistant on the cardiac unit prior to medical school. That experience gave me tremendous appreciation for Duke's patient care excellence and the incredible nursing staff who supported my journey to medicine. The hospital holds a special place in my heart.
Why Durham: I currently live in Graham, NC, with my husband and dog, and I've been familiar with the Durham area since childhood through frequent visits. I feel very comfortable with the community and location.
