Why Duke: I was first drawn to Duke because of its unique Pathology PhD program, bringing together aspects of clinical research with the basic sciences to adopt translational approaches to disease. Beyond the program structure, I was excited by the impressive faculty and diverse research interests spanning various disease states. Specifically, the abundance of labs specializing in musculoskeletal diseases aligned with my research interests, and I knew that Duke would equip me with the tools and opportunities to help me grow and succeed as an aging researcher.
Why Durham: Durham appealed to me first because of its proximity to the beach and the mountains which is perfect for any outdoor adventures! The small-city charm of Durham also has great food and so much to explore!
