Welcoming Dr. Randall Reynolds to Our Faculty

Please join me in welcoming Randall Reynolds, DVM, MS to the Department of Pathology as an Associate Professor. Dr. Reynolds has served for over 30 years in laboratory animal medicine, within industrial and academic settings, including as Attending Veterinarian in the biotechnology industry. He obtained his undergraduate degree, veterinary medical degree, and master’s degree in physiology from North Carolina State University. His postgraduate training included completing a residency in Laboratory Animal Medicine at Duke University Medical Center and research training in reproductive and molecular toxicology. Upon completion of his residency program, Dr. Reynolds spent over twelve years in the pharmaceutical industry before returning to Duke University for the past sixteen years.

Dr. Reynolds is a diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. His current responsibilities include the direction of preclinical studies, preparation of reports for submission to the Food and Drug Administration, facility design, animal model development, and ensuring regulatory compliance and management of various functional groups within the Division of Laboratory Animal Resources. Previous areas of research included animal model development, molecular toxicology, and carcinogenesis. His current research focus involves the effect of environmental factors that may be detrimental to laboratory animal welfare and research reproducibility. Dr. Reynolds is an internationally recognized expert on how sound and vibration are often overlooked research variables and how to mitigate their effects on biological research models.
