It is with great pleasure that I announce Dr. Shih-Hsiu (Jerry) Wang’s new role as the Associate Director of the Autopsy Neuropathology Service.

Dr. Wang obtained his MD from National Taiwan University and then completed his PhD in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University by studying the molecular mechanisms of synaptic refinement. Subsequently he completed his training in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology from New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Wang joined our Duke Pathology family in 2018 and currently serves as the Director of the Duke Bryan Brain Bank and Biorepository with active collaborations with the Departments of Neurology and Medicine. He investigates broad areas of neurodegenerative diseases including genetics, glaucoma and Alzheimer's disease, and pathological hallmarks of TDP-43 proteinopathy in advanced age. As Associate Director of the Autopsy Neuropathology Service, Dr. Wang will help Dr. Carolyn Glass, the Director of the Autopsy Service, by leading the effort to organize and coordinating the various clinical, educational, and research activities pertaining to neurologic and neurosurgical autopsy cases.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Wang in his new role!
