Shi Appointed Chief of GI Path

I am very pleased to announce that Chanjuan Shi, MD PhD, has been appointed Chief of the Gastrointestinal Pathology Service.

Dr. Shi is a highly accomplished gastrointestinal pathologist with specialized expertise in pancreatic neoplasms and gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors. She has published more than 120 original peer-reviewed journal articles as well as many review articles and book chapters, some in high impact journals (Nature Methods, Science, and Clinical Cancer Research). She was the lead author for the chapter “Neuroendocrine Tumors of the Colon and the Rectum” in the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual, 8th edition and one of the main authors for Neuroendocrine Neoplasms, Pancreas in the WHO Classification of Tumors of the Digestive System, 5th Edition. She has been active in national and international professional organizations including holding important leadership positions. She was the co-Chair for the College of American Pathology GI Cancer Protocol Review Panel from 2015 to 2020, and has been in charge of developing GI Cancer Protocols in the past 5 years. She is currently the Chair of the Expert Committee for the International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting for gastric cancer, leading a group of international pathologists and clinicians to develop a dataset for gastric cancer.

We would also like to thank Dr. Cynthia Guy for having led an outstanding division of Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology for many years. Dr. Guy will continue her leadership role in the department by serving as the Chief of Liver Pathology.
