Elizabeth Pavlisko, MD has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor Pathology.
Dr. Pavlisko received her BS in Biochemistry from Clemson University in 2002, before earning her MD from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2006. She completed residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Duke University, where she was elected as co-chief resident, graduating in 2010. After completing a Pulmonary Pathology fellowship in 2011, she joined the faculty at Duke Hospital as an Assistant Professor of Pathology later that year. She was appointed Chief of the Pulmonary/Thoracic Pathology division in July of 2020.
Dr. Pavlisko has expertise in neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases of the lung and mediastinum with a special interest in lung transplantation and diseases of the pleura for which she is widely recognized as an authority. She was recently invited to speak at the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation’s annual meeting in Toronto, 2021.
Dr. Pavlisko has published over 40 manuscripts and has 6 book chapters, the latter all centered on occupational diseases of the lungs and pleura. Since 2017, she has co-chaired the lung steering committee for the Banff Foundation for Allograft Pathology.
In addition to her clinical and research activities, Dr. Pavlisko is active in Duke University Hospital’s Clinical Laboratories and currently serves as the Associate Medical Director of the Division of Anatomic Pathology and Digital Analytics (DAPDA).
