On April 7th, 2023, Karra Jones, MD, PhD, was invited to present at the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University of Chicago Department of Pathology Grand Rounds Seminar series. Her talk was titled “Genetic Variant Resolution Using Muscle Biopsies.”
Jones serves as director of Duke’s Electron Microscopy and Immunochemistry Lab. Since her arrival at Duke in April, 2022, Jones has been working towards expansion of the neuromuscular service to allow for a larger outreach capacity and enhanced tissue analysis modalities, working with Anne Buckley, MD, PhD, and colleagues in neuropathology and the Immunochemistry Lab.
In her role as Muscle & Nerve Pathology section head, she directs and designs all of the neuromuscular diagnostic services provided in-house and to regional providers in the consultative Muscle and Nerve Pathology Service.
Jones loves teaching trainees of all levels and has received multiple teaching awards. Her research interests include inherited muscular dystrophies and myopathies, and she is a consultant for muscular dystrophy and myopathy gene therapy clinical trials.
She is very active in the American Association of Neuropathologists and is a member of the College of American Pathologists Neuropathology Committee.
