S.-H. Jerry Wang, MD, PhD, presented at the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Pathology Grand Rounds on Nov. 3rd. His talk was titled “Neuropathology of Dementia Across the Human Aging Spectrum.” In his presentation, Wang talked about the different pathologies that contribute to cognitive decline in aging, and highlighted his recent work on limbic-predominant age-related TDP43 encephalopathy (LATE). He highlighted the relationship between LATE and Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body disease, and cerebrovascular pathologies. Wang also provided recommendations for a practical approach to assess TDP43 pathology in routine neuropathology practice.
