Dr. Shih-Hsiu "Jerry" Wang Receives New NIH funding

Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have received major funding from the National Institutes of Health to establish a prestigious Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), part of a federally-funded national network of 33 similar centers. The newly established center will focus on identifying age-related changes across the lifespan that impact the development, progression and experience of Alzheimer’s and related dementias (ADRD). The Neuropathology Core, led by Dr. Shih-Hsiu "Jerry" Wang, will receive funds totaling 1.4 million in the next five years. The Core will incorporate the Duke Bryan Brain Bank and Biorepository, which has been providing high quality brain and CSF tissue to ADRD investigators for over 25 years. The NIH funding will enable the Neuropathology Core to continue to provide diagnostic support for clinicians and study participants, distribute biospecimens and neuropathology data to the ADRD research community, as well as spearhead cutting-edge multi-omics studies and provide consultation and training for the next generation of ADRD investigators.
