Ming Chen, PhD has recently received an Idea Development Award from the Department of Defence (DoD) Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP) for his grant titled “De Novo Lipogenesis and Chemosensitivity of Prostate Cancer.”
The PCRP seeks to promote highly innovative, high-impact, groundbreaking research, with an emphasis on investing in research that will benefit patients diagnosed with lethal prostate cancer or improve quality of life for men diagnosed with this disease. With this new three-year, $1.2 million award, Chen and colleagues will use the funds to determine whether inhibition of lipid metabolism enhances the responsiveness of prostate cancer to chemotherapy to create powerful and long-lasting anti-tumor effects. Dr. Chen is an assistant professor specializing in mouse genetics, lipid metabolism, and PTEN biology.
