Celebrating Our Residents & Fellows

Duke Pathology is grateful for our residents, fellows, program directors and coordinators, and celebrates them this Duke GME Week, Feb. 21-25, 2022.

“Residents and fellows are the lifeblood of our department and health care system, and the system would collapse without them,”  said Thomas J. Cummings, MD, Professor of Pathology and Ophthalmology, and Duke Pathology Residency Program Director. “I am fortunate to work at Duke alongside colleagues in Graduate Medical Education and their unrivaled dedication to training physicians. During this GME week I ask you to take a moment and thank, mentor, or perhaps introduce yourself to one of our trainees whom you have not yet had the opportunity to get to know. All black belts were once white belts, and it is extremely gratifying to watch our trainees grow and thrive as physicians, through the good times and the hard times, and reach their full potential. I believe completely in our residents. Do you?”

“Graduate medical education is an essential mission for our department, and we appreciate everyone’s effort in training the best physicians of the next generation,” offered Pathology Department Chair Jiaoti Huang. MD, PhD. “We’re very proud of our extraordinary residents and fellows. Their hard work ensures that we provide patient care of the highest quality.”
