At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:
* Understand the role of cell surfaces and plasma protease inhibitors in regulating the process of hemostasis
* Appreciate how altering the levels of protease inhibitors can be used to "rebalance" and improve hemostasis in hemophilia
* Appreciate the difficulties in monitoring non-replacement therapies in the clinical laboratory
* Understand how secondary protease inhibitors can maintain regulation of coagulation when the level of anti-thrombin is lowered to enhance hemostasis in hemophilia
