At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to: * Understand the role of cell surfaces and plasma protease inhibitors in regulating the process of hemostasis * Appreciate how altering the levels of protease inhibitors can be used to "rebalance" and improve hemostasis in hemophilia * Appreciate the difficulties in monitoring non-replacement therapies in the clinical laboratory * Understand how secondary protease inhibitors can maintain regulation of coagulation when the level of anti-thrombin is lowered to enhance hemostasis in hemophilia
