My basic research work involves animal models of brain development and neoplasia (medulloblastomas and gliomas). My translational research, done in collaboration with colleagues in various departments, includes neuromuscular disease (glycogen storage disorders and immune-mediated myopathies) and kidney disease.

Dr. Chen’s research Interests: Impact of HLA antibodies and non-HLA antibodies on outcomes of solid organ and stem cell transplantations; Impact of matching and mismatching of HLA and non-HLA on outcomes of solid organ and stem cell transplantations; Alloreactivity of KIR in stem cell transplantations; HLA polymorphism and disease associations; Development of new technologies for histocompatibility testing.

John Norman Norton, PhD, DVM

The major focus of Dr. Norton’s collaborative research is the study of extrinsic factors which may influence the animal research model, specifically in the area of noise and vibration. In addition, Dr. Norton uses his expertise in toxicology and laboratory animal medicine to assist in conduction and development of preclinical discovery and development projects as well as preparation of regulatory dossiers, design and management of complex animal research facilities, and ensuring regulatory compliance of animal programs.
