The Staats Lab was recently awarded an NIH R21 grant titled “Pregnant rabbits as a model to evaluate the causative role of ZIKV infection in the etiology of congenital malformations”.   Studies will be performed to determine if Zika virus infection causes birth defects in rabbits. This grant represents a collaborative effort between the Staats lab, Dr. Jeffrey Everitt (Research Animal Pathology Service) and Dr. Allan Johnson (Center for In Vivo Microscopy).
