McCall Named New Director of Research Histology Lab

We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Shannon McCall will be the new director of the Research Histology Laboratory.

Dr. McCall completed her training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology followed by a Fellowship in Gastrointestinal Pathology here at Duke, joining the faculty in 2005. She returned to Duke in 2010 after several years in the private sector.  She was instrumental in the growth of the Biospecimen Repository and Processing Core (BRPC) and has served as director of that shared resource since 2013. In that capacity she provides human specimen banking and processing services to Duke Cancer Institute investigators, School of Medicine investigators, their collaborators, and national initiatives such as the NCI’s Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) project.  She is dedicated to expanding human sample research opportunities and highlighting the contributions of pathologists to the science of medicine.

Please join us in thanking Dr. Alan Proia for his many years of outstanding service in this position and congratulating Dr. McCall in her new role.
