McCall Appointed New Study Program Director

Shannon McCall, MD, FCAP

Please join me in welcoming Shannon McCall, MD, FCAP as the new Pathology Study Program (PSP) Director for the Duke School of Medicine Third Year Program.  During the Third Year Program, Duke medical students broaden their background in biomedical science by pursuing a scholarly experience in one of eighteen departmental and institutional programs including the PSP.  In addition to her clinical activities providing diagnostic services in the areas of gastrointestinal, hepatic, and intraoperative pathology, Dr. McCall leads the Biospecimen Repository and Processing Core (BRPC) which includes the Research Histology Laboratory.  Dr. McCall’s clinical and research activities in the Department of Pathology provide her the network required to match third year medical students with exciting research opportunities available through the clinical and basic science faculty in Pathology.  As a Duke medical student who spent her third year studying cardiac muscle contractility and troponin isoforms, Dr. McCall has first-hand experience with the Third Year Program and we look forward to her leadership in this area.

We would also like to thank Dr. Mary Sunday for the years of leadership and guidance she provided as the Pathology Study Program Director.
