Huang Receives New NIH RO1 Grant

Jiaoti Huang, MD, PhD has been awarded a new RO1 grant from the National Cancer Institute as the Principle Investigator. The project, entitled “Histologic and Immunohistochemical Biomarkers for Heavily Treated Metastatic Prostate Cancer,” will last 5 years. The research proposal is based on a clinical trial performed by the Stand Up to Cancer West Coast Dream Team for which Dr. Huang was the central pathologist. The team has performed biopsies in 250 patients up to now, resulting in the largest collection of metastatic prostate cancer tissue.  Dr. Huang discovered a novel histologic variant in this cohort. The RO1 grant will support additional studies to fully characterize these tumors.
