Huang and Collaborators Receive Department of Defense Impact Award

Dr. Jiaoti Huang has been awarded an Impact Award by the Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program. The title of the project is “Targeting adaptive pathways in IAC”.   IAC, or Intermediate Atypical Carcinoma, is a novel histologic variant of metastatic prostate cancer Dr. Huang Identified in a large multi-institutional clinical study funded by a $10 million grant from Stand Up To Cancer, American Cancer Society and Prostate Cancer Foundation. Tumors of this morphology are seen in patients who have been heavily treated with drugs targeting the androgen receptor signaling pathway. The new grant will fund studies into the molecular mechanisms and adaptive pathways of this tumor type.

The study team is led by Dr. Eric Small of University of California, San Francisco.
