Guy, Foo, & Buckley Selected for Renewed ENABLE Funding

Cynthia Guy, MD, Wen-Chi Foo, MD, and Anne Buckley, MD PhD, have been selected to receive a second year of funding from the PDC’s ENhanced Academics in a Basic Laboratory Environment (ENABLE) career development program. The ENABLE grant provides 25% effort support to facilitate a Duke clinical physician’s active participation in an established research laboratory. They were among the first group of Duke physicians to receive funding in the inaugural year of the program. Their renewed funding extends through June of 2017.

Dr. Guy is working with Anna Mae Diehl, MD, of the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, to study various aspects of hepatic stellate cell pathobiology in deregulated liver repair and hepatocarcinogenesis. Dr. Foo is working with Steve Patierno, PhD and Jenny Freedman, PhD, of the Department of Medicine, on racial disparity in prostate cancer. Dr. Buckley is working with Chay Kuo, MD PhD, of the Department of Cell Biology, on the effects of neuronal activity on astrocyte proliferation.
