Glass Receives Clinical Research Grant

Carolyn Glass MD PhD

Carolyn Glass MD PhD, along with Duke cardiologist and investigator Christopher Holley MD PhD, have been awarded a 2019-2020 Clinical Research Grant from CareDx®, a leading precision medicine company focused on solid organ transplantation to study antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) in cardiac transplant patients.

AMR occurs in 10-20% of cardiac transplant patients and is undoubtedly associated with early graft failure and increased mortality. The incidence of cardiac AMR is only expected to further rise due to the increased number of pre-sensitized patients who have previously been supported by mechanical circulatory devices. Their research will focus on validating current histological methods of diagnosing AMR to circulating donor-derived cell-free DNA in cardiac transplant patients.
